Greetings,
I just push-ed a branch, named feature/addUnifBackground, which makes it possible to use CASToR to apply the method proposed by (Gong et al, 2016) to evaluate the spatial resolution of a PET scanner with iterative reconstruction. In short, it is a hack of GATERootToCASToR that makes it possible to add a uniform background to the data (i.e. point source acquisition) to circumvent the non-linear behavior of iterative reconstruction and thus enables spatial resolution characterization.
This branch is based on the current master since the current develop branch has changed too much for an easy integration and that this feature should be a separated tool. Also, it does not touch to most correction factors which make it less reliable for real acquisition.
The branch_description.txt file describes how to use it and its limitations.
May it help someone!
Bests,
Maxime Toussaint
