Problems with sensitivity image in PEM reconstruction

Hi CASToR users and developers,

Hope you can help me. I generate data from a Monte Carlo simulation for a dual plate Positron Emission Mammography system and use CASToR to reconstruct the images (List Mode MLEM). I use my own Normalization Matrix (produced as well with Monte Carlo) and have been able to reconstruct the images aplying normalization ,but without attenuation corrections.

My question is: Is there any way of using my own Normalization Matrix and switch on the attenuation correction for the reconstruction? So far, CASToR only allows me to perform attenuation correction when using its own calculation of the Sensitivity Image, producing very odd results.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Hi Dulce,
If by normalization matrix you mean a table of norm correction factors pour each line of response, you could convert it to a Castor normalization datafile (as ACFs are not mandatory) and provide it to castor-recon along with an attenuation map. CASToR will generate a sensitivity image from your event-based normalization correction factors and integrate attenuation correction.

Hope this helps,
Thibaut
